Safety Policy

Surespan Construction believes in protecting the health and safety of all persons on our job sites. With our type of work, protecting the worker is not enough - we have the ensure visitors and the general public are also out of harms way. We are committed to providing health and safety training opportunities to employees and full-time subcontractors.

Surespan Construction currently holds Certificate of Recognition (COR) status in both British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba and Certificate of Recognition Equivalency in Saskatchewan and the Yukon Territory.

To achieve Certificate of Recognition status, a company must carry out and successfully pass internal and external audits and submit the results to the provincial certifying association.

In addition to the above, we've been designated "Safe Company" status with the BC Forest Safety Council (BCFSC) and WorkSafeBC, as part of their "SAFE" Company initiative. In order to obtain Safe Company Status, a company must enrol in training with the BCFSC and complete and successfully pass yearly internal audits on their health and safety program.

Surespan Construction believes in creating safety awareness. We work with local media and government, the public and each work jurisdiction's Occupational Health and Safety Government Body to ensure our project sites are as safe as possible for everyone who comes in contact with them.

In March 2008 Surespan's Simon Fraser Bridge project in Prince George began participating in WorkSafeBC's Slow Down Campaign. We consider ourselves to be very fortunate to have been able to participate in this program.
